National insurance provider: “Switching to Tremendous was a huge time-saver”

"I can simply upload a CSV file, and Tremendous takes care of everything for me."

The highlight reel

—>A national insurance provider sends incentives to employees and sales associates for hitting sales targets and other merit-based achievements.

—> Before Tremendous, the insurer used another incentives and rewards vendor. Sending incentives to even a small batch of recipients took hours, and employees and sales associates often had trouble finding and using their rewards.

—> After switching to Tremendous, the insurance company has saved hours per month sending incentives. Plus, delivery rates have skyrocketed to well over 95%.

—> “I have probably re-sent fewer than 5 rewards over the past 2 years.”

The problem

Recognition is a core tenet of a national insurance provider’s company values. With a large domestic employee base, the insurance company understands the exponential benefits of a motivated, engaged workforce and ecosystem.

One of the company’s recognition campaigns is a sales incentive program designed to push sales associates to demonstrate significant performance improvements, whether year-over-year or during short-term sprints. Another campaign rewards individuals for hitting ambitious sales targets.

“These programs have a distinct correlation to our values,” said the company’s senior consultant for events, recognition, and incentives. “Collaboration and recognition are central to how we operate."

Prior to 2022, the insurer used another incentives vendor to send sales incentives. However, the senior consultant had to go through the previous vendor’s customer service team to do everything from submitting recipients to editing the messages each person received.

“There was no transparency,” said the senior consultant, who manages these programs. “And we couldn’t have more than one promotion running at a time.”

“I would provide the vendor with the requested information, but it typically took them one to two weeks to complete the process.”

They spent a lot of time going back and forth with the vendor to fix small details in customized emails and templates.

“It was a lengthy process,” said the senior consultant. “Plus, they charged us for every gift card we issued.”

After hitting “send,” the insurer’s incentives team would see an influx of messages from recipients who couldn’t locate their reward.

“At times, I would end up with a list of 10 people who needed their gift cards resent after I had already sent out the rewards," she said.

In 2022, they decided to search for a different incentives platform. The team carefully weighed their options, chatting with 5 different vendors before choosing Tremendous.

“We went with Tremendous because of the ease of doing business, the transparency, and the fact that we can design templates ourselves,” she said. “And with Tremendous, there’s no fee.”

The fix

Sending rewards in bulk. Saving tons of time.

With the previous vendor, the senior consultant had to email customer service a list of recipients so they could send incentives on her behalf.

“I recall working after hours copying and pasting links into emails,” she said. “It was incredibly time-consuming, especially when I had several hundred gift cards to send. It was frustrating."

Now, she can send rewards herself. In a lot less time.

"I can simply upload a CSV file, and Tremendous takes care of everything for me," she said. "I can have campaign templates ready in just five minutes. It's incredibly convenient and has been a huge time-saver."

Rewards recipients can rely on

For the insurance company’s sales incentive program to be successful, it has to be reliable. Being rewarded for your hard work feels great.

But it feels less great if tracking down your incentive becomes its own source of frustration.

"With [our previous vendor], there was always a significant number of recipients who didn't receive their rewards," said the senior consultant. "I couldn't simply resend the gift cards myself; I had to go through customer service, and it could take several days to get a response."

Now, they find themselves re-sending gift cards much less often.

“I have probably re-sent fewer than 5 rewards over the past 2 years,” she said.

But if there is a problem, she knows Tremendous’ support team will respond within a day.

"I recently encountered an issue uploading a logo to a campaign," she said. "I emailed your support team, and they took care of it for me. They were incredibly helpful, and it didn’t delay the process at all."

The outcome

Since 2022, the national insurance provider has been using Tremendous to reward employees across the country.

Now, other departments are starting to integrate incentives into different initiatives.

"We have multiple teams now beginning to send rewards," she said. "Whenever I show them how it's done, they're always amazed at how easy it is."

Most importantly, she now has more time to dedicate to her many other daily priorities.

“I honestly have never had an issue with the platform,” she said.
